Sustainability reporting for leading fund manager within renewable energy infrastructure

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) is one of the world’s largest fund managers dedicated to greenfield renewable energy infrastructure. As ESG continues to play a central role in the investment landscape, CIP partnered with The Footprint Firm to develop and publish their first public ESG report, marking a major step in enhancing transparency and articulating its strategic approach to sustainability.

The project

CIP set out to publish its inaugural ESG report, highlighting how the firm integrates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations across its investments and operations. We were brought in to support the end-to-end development of the report, ensuring the process was structured, content-rich, and aligned with CIP’s six strategic ESG focus areas.

Our approach

Working closely with CIP’s ESG team, we led the structuring and scoping of key content areas, conducted interviews across the global organisation, and gathered real-world examples to bring the ESG strategy to life.
We supported KPI disclosures across E, S, and G dimensions, collaborated with internal stakeholders and external advisors on the technical disclosure sections, and coordinated with the graphic agency to ensure a coherent and accessible final report.

The process was highly collaborative, involving a wide range of stakeholders across functions and geographies.

The impact

Our work helped CIP move from ambition to publication, delivering a clear, credible, and comprehensive ESG report that sets the baseline for future disclosures and strengthens stakeholder transparency.

The report, released in May 2022, marks a milestone in CIP’s ESG journey and provides a solid foundation for communicating impact going forward.
