CSDDD & other regulations

Sustainability regulation is no longer a future concern; it’s here, expanding rapidly, and reshaping business fundamentals.

From due diligence to disclosures, the evolving regulatory landscape is driving new requirements across environmental, social, and governance topics. For companies and financial institutions alike, regulatory risk has become a material concern, with implications for compliance, reputation, and bottom-line performance.

We help organisations stay ahead of the curve by turning regulatory complexity into strategic clarity

Our work ensures businesses remain compliant, resilient, and well-positioned to use regulation as a driver of operational efficiency, market differentiation, and long-term value creation.

Sustainability regulatory scan

We provide organisations with the tools to track, assess, and respond to evolving sustainability regulations and guidance — both locally and globally. Our Sustainability Regulatory Scan enables proactive planning, efficient resource allocation, and cost-effective compliance by identifying what’s coming, what matters, and where to focus.

Navigating key sustainability regulations

We provide tailored guidance on navigating major sustainability regulations — from strategy to implementation. This includes deep expertise in various regulatory frameworks.

Examples of key sustainability regulations we can help companies navigate

01
Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)

CSDDD requires large companies operating in the EU (and some outside it) to run human rights and environmental due diligence across their operations and value chains, and to adopt a climate transition plan. We help companies identify, prevent, and mitigate adverse impacts and stay aligned with evolving EU requirements, including proposed Omnibus changes.

02
Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR)

SFDR sets rules for how financial firms disclose sustainability risks and impacts at both entity and product level, with rising scrutiny around greenwashing. We guide institutions through compliant, credible disclosures that combine qualitative and quantitative data.

03
EU Taxonomy

The EU Taxonomy defines which economic activities count as environmentally sustainable and drives reporting and access to green finance. We support organisations in assessing alignment and embedding Taxonomy criteria into strategy, reporting, and compliance.

04
EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)

EUDR requires companies selling key commodities (e.g., soy, palm oil, cocoa, wood) to prove products are deforestation-free through strict supply-chain due diligence. We assist with risk assessment, traceability, and documentation to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.

The project

JOE & THE JUICE wanted to establish a solid Double Materiality Assessment to serve both as analytic foundation for compliance and upcoming CSRD reporting as well as provide insights and relevant data on progress to the company’s sustainability strategy. The process should ensure cross-organisational alignment, involvement of senior leadership and board and ensure an outcome of also strategic value to the overall sustainability ambitions of the company.

Our approach

The Footprint team worked closely with the sustainability team, finance, legal and strategy, and facilitated a CSRD-compliant DMA process anchored in internal and external stakeholder interviews and engagement with corporate management. The assessment identified material impacts, risks, and opportunities across environmental, social, and governance topics across the value chain, aligned with CSRD requirements and with clear links to JOE & THE JUICE ‘s strategic priorities across E, S and G including areas linked to responsible sourcing, carbon footprint, waste and recycling.

The impact

Our collaboration with JOE & THE JUICE was a close joint team effort resulting in a DMA process and a final outcome going beyond compliance focus and regulatory preparation, but also ensuring a strong strategic integration with the company’s overall sustainability ambitions and providing insights for pushing ongoing sustainability efforts further.
