The challenge

Every year in Denmark alone, around 30,000 tonnes of coffee are consumed, creating a large waste stream from spent coffee grounds. Less than 1 percent of coffee’s health-enhancing properties are used when brewing, and this valuable resource is discarded, contributing to waste and inefficiency while missing opportunities for sustainable innovation.

The solution

Grums upcycles spent coffee grounds into high-quality skincare ingredients and products that retain antioxidants and fatty acids, delivering tangible benefits for skin and health. By turning coffee waste into valuable, sustainable products, Grums reduces waste streams, avoids additional land use, and promotes a circular economy where resources are fully leveraged.
